EAST PEORIA (WEEK) – With little discussion, East Peoria city council voted to bring a new cannabis dispensary to town.
In a 4 to 1 vote, the council approved an ordinance to use the property at 300 S Main St by the Kroger for the dispensary. Commissioner Michael Sutherland was the only member to vote no.
Commissioner Mark Hill says this has been in the works for awhile. They were considering another site for the dispensary, but it was too close to a daycare. They say this new location, however, was an easy decision.
“When the city put out the notice in regards to this latest ZBA, there was no one in opposition of this proposed location, so I’ll be supporting it too,” Mayor John Kahl said.
There is no date yet for when the dispensary is set to open. This will be the second dispensary in the city.
