Buffalo Grove To State: Allow Existing 'Pot' Dispensary To Add Recreational Sales – Journal & Topics Newspapers Online

Buffalo Grove Village Hall

Buffalo Grove village trustees at their Monday, Dec. 7 board meeting will likely approve a letter to be sent to the governor’s office requesting the state reduce “obstacles” for a medical marijuana facility in the village to offer recreational sales.

For several years, Cresco Labs has sold medical marijuana from the company’s location in Buffalo Grove. Cresco recently moved from 1623 Barclay Blvd. to 830 N. Milwaukee Ave. in order to sell recreational marijuana as well, under the name Sunnyside.

According to Gov. JB Pritzker’s office, under state law, medical marijuana facilities cannot sell recreational marijuana if they relocate, even if they stay in the same community. The law stipulates the business must submit for new state approval.

Trustee Joanne Johnson recently stated the village supported Prtizker’s push for recreational marijuana in the past, but is now losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in potential revenue from recreational marijuana sales.
