Downtown Long Beach has its first cannabis dispensary.
Catalyst Cannabis Co. opened its new headquarters, 433 N. Pine Ave., earlier this month; the site is the company’s fifth dispensary in Long Beach.
“This new Catalyst Pine location in Downtown Long Beach is very symbolic of where we come from and the start of an explosive future,” the company’s founder and CEO, Elliot Lewis, said in a statement. “We are dedicated to working with our Downtown Long Beach neighbors to bring foot traffic back to the block and support the amazing small businesses here.”
The site is the first dispensary in downtown Long Beach because zoning regulations have prohibited them in the neighborhood until earlier this year.
Lewis, in fact, pushed for the zoning changes to allow for dispensaries in the area and garnered support from local residents in the process.
“We have worked closely with Mr. Lewis,” Leanna Noble, with the North Pine Neighborhood Alliance, said in an April Planning Commission meeting, “and are very confident that he is committed to this neighborhood and the residents who live here and can really add a significant improvement to the residents and also to the small businesses in the area.”
