Greenfield: Pot dispensary delayed by building issues – The Recorder

GREENFIELD — The medical marijuana dispensary planning to move into the former American Legion building says it’s still committed to opening in Greenfield, but has faced numerous delays due to the condition of the building.

Patriot Care Corp. was granted a special permit to open the facility in March 2015, but spokesman Dennis Kunian said the nonprofit has run into numerous issues with the condition of the building, located behind Green Fields Market. He said some demolition work has already been done, but there’s still much more to do. The building’s roof and windows have also been replaced, and other remediation work has been done inside.

Greenfield’s Director of Planning and Development Eric Twarog said Patriot Care’s special permit is valid, as they have done a substantial completion of the building.

“They’ve done serious renovation in the building, they put a retaining wall in the back, they demolished half the building as they said they would,” Twarog said. “The special permit is acted on, so now they no longer need to get extensions.”

Kunian said there is no confirmed date for the dispensary’s opening.
