CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An educational training was held in Pilsen Saturday to help operators of licensed marijuana dispensaries prepare as recreational marijuana use in Illinois becomes legal in January.
The class was organized by Jacob Aimers of Illinois Cannabis Trainers, who said there will be sstrict regulations governing the sales of recreational marijuana. He said without adequate training, dispensary operators run the risk of inadvertently violating rules and facing potentially severe penalties.
“There are specific things, (like) you have to have specific signs warning people about edibles,” Aimers said about the regulations. “If (the signs) are not a certain size, you can get fined.”
Aimers says he believes the regulations are so strict because of the stigma of marijuana, but he added the rules will help dispensaries operate responsibly and safely.
The llinois state-approved vendor and consulting firm is offering Cannabis Dispensary Agent Training, which is required by the state to help dispensary owners prepare for the rush and the harsh regulations as January inches closer.
