DeKalb County could be getting its first medical marijuana dispensary if plans for the business are approved by the city of DeKalb.
A legal notice from the city says a medical marijuana dispensary is being proposed for the multi-unit building at 6-50 Peace Road.
That’s on the northeast corner of Peace Road and Pleasant Street, across from Amerigas.
Under state law, marijuana can be sold at the dispensaries to those with a state medical marijuana card, but marijuana can not a be grown there.
This isn’t the first dispensary to be proposed in the county.
One was approved for Gateway Drive in Sycamore, near DeKalb Clinic, but it has never never built.
Rezoning is needed for the DeKalb proposal, and that will be considered by the DeKalb Planning and Zoning Commission at its meeting on February 22nd.
A public hearing on the proposal will be held at the meeting.
