Medical marijuana dispensary launches product to infuse cannabis in hot drinks – WCVB Boston

A medical marijuana dispensary, which is pursuing licenses to expand into the recreational business, is launching a new product to put cannabis in a mug.

Revolutionary Clinics announced Thursday a line of cannabis-infused hot and cold beverage pods. Company officials said the first coffee pods combine measured amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, one of the active chemicals in marijuana, with locally roasted and ground beans.

Medical marijuana patients will be able to purchase pods containing 8.5 milligrams of THC at the company’s Cambridge and Somerville dispensaries starting Thursday. Company officials said they plan to sell 5 milligram versions to recreational customers after their licenses are finalized.

Future products planned for the company’s Mile 62 Cafe product line will combine THC, CBD or CBN with coffees, teas or lemonade.

“As with edibles, cannabis-infused beverages must travel through the digestive system, which means they can take anywhere from 30 minutes up to a couple of hours to begin working and feeling the full effects,” Revolutionary Clinics wrote in a statement. “However, once they are digested, the effects are usually stronger and last much longer than other types of treatments such as smoking.”

Revolutionary Clinics is pursuing licenses for their expansion into the recreational business through the Cannabis Control Commission.
