The long line that marked the opening of Greater Cincinnati’s first medical marijuana dispensary mattered little to Rob Lacy of Monroe. What matters most to Lacy is that he was able to buy marijuana legally Tuesday. He said the drug put a stop to epileptic seizures he used to suffer.”So what I got here was 3 units,” he said, showing the items he purchased. “Each unit was $49 plus tax, and each unit contains 2.8 grams.”Lacy is glad owners of About Wellness Ohio, a dispensary in Lebanon that opened Tuesday, are pharmacists. He described what the buying experience was like once he made it behind the dispensary’s tightly secured doors.”It was a very in-depth, exciting, nervous, you know, nerve-wracking,” Lacy said. “It was good to talk to somebody that had knowledge that you could talk with and that would understand what you needed.”Lacy grew up in Fairfield, where he took pharmaceutical drugs to treat his condition. He moved to Colorado, where cannabis is fully legal. A short time later he says his life changed.”It took me two months and I never seen (sic) a benzo since. It’s been six, seven years. Praise God for the marijuana.”Alan Benjamin of Cincinnati shares Lacy’s enthusiasm, especially because the dispensary in Lebanon is only about 45 minutes from his home.”I’m excited (for) something closer to home,” Benjamin said. “I’ve traveled all the way to Sandusky, Ohio; Jackson, Ohio; Columbus. This is so far closest to me.”Patients are still waiting for three dispensaries in Hamilton County to open.Eventually, counties in the Greater Cincinnati area will have seven sites selling medical marijuana.
