Mother suffering with cancer inspired sons to open cannabis dispensary –

YPSILANTI, MI – Ryan and Cory Nemeth searched for a medicinal alternative to help their mother, who was suffering from lung cancer.

After undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, they found cannabis was an option that helped her.

“We saw amazing results,” Ryan Nemeth said, citing pain reduction and overall happiness. “We started juicing with her…we did smoothies with marijuana.”

The Nemeths opened the Patient Station, a cannabis dispensary at 539 S. Huron St. in Ypsilanti, in 2014, a couple years after their mother died, hoping to help others find relief.

“We do have a very loyal customer base,” Ryan Nemeth said. “Our family is here on a day-to-day basis and you can talk to them about any problem you’re having. I want to figure out what we can possibly do to help them,”

The Nemeths started the family-operated business as a medicinal dispensary but kicked off recreational sales in mid-July and celebrated a grand reopening on Saturday, Aug. 22.

“Honestly, Ypsilanti is just a family atmosphere. Everyone is so welcoming, so inviting,” Ryan Nemeth said. “They opened us with welcome arms.”

The Nemeths pride their team in being knowledgeable about marijuana and their ability to recommend products and doses to new customers.

“We’ve all had that experience of where you over-intake or overdo yourself, you take an extra bit of an edible that you shouldn’t have. We want everybody to have a positive experience. If you don’t understand the side effects…that can overwhelm someone. Everyone’s body type is different,” Ryan Nemeth said.

More importantly, the Nemeths want to supply inventory they would consume themselves, or provide to their mother, to ensure their customers receive quality products and services.
