No Monday recreational marijuana at Collinsville dispensary – KMOX

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) — The marijuana dispensary in Collinsville will not sell recreational marijuana on Mondays for the foreseeable future.
This follows what happened this past Monday, when HCI Alternatives closed because it ran out of recreational weed product to sell.

Instead, it’ll start “Medical Mondays.” That means it’ll be open only to its 6,000-plus medical patients between its Collinsville and Springfield locations.

“Working with our medical patients has and will always be a core mission and that doesn’t stop because we now have the ability to serve adult-use customers.  Dedicating a day to work solely with our patients is the right thing to do for everyone,” said Illinois Supply and Provisions Chief Retail Officer Kim Kiefer.

For the next few months, there’s expected to be a short supply of recreational marijuana, as Illinois slowly rolls out licenses for marijuana grow facilities. In its statement, Illinois Supply and Provisions says stopping Monday sales means it can manage its inventory better.

“This is a learning process and we will continue to make adjustments that are in the best interests of both our medical patients and adult-use customers until we find our new normal.  We appreciate all of our patients and customers that continue to put their trust in us to serve them,” said Ascend Wellness Holdings Founder Abner Kurtin. Ascend Wellness Holdings owns Illinois Supply and Provisions and other related companies.
