Ontario's first dispensary to open this week | Local News Stories – Ontario Argus Observer


ONTARIO — After much anticipation, Ontario will be getting its first marijuana dispensary this week, as Oregon Liquor Control Commission has finally issued a license to one of several that are slated to open.

According to John Breidenbach of the Ontario Area Chamber of Commerce, Weedology has its official ribbon cutting scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m.

While the ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday, Weedology general manager Eric Lantz said they are expecting the store to have a soft opening on Friday. The official grand opening of Weedology is still unscheduled.

Marijuana sales in Ontario was made legal in the Nov. 6 General Election, when voters approved a measure overturning a ban on recreational mariuana sales which was enacted by the Ontario City Council in 2016. The measure included a 3 percent local sales tax, the maximum allowed by the state.
