Phillipsburg medical marijuana dispensary gets state permission to open Tuesday –

The New Jersey Department of Health issued a permit Monday allowing a medical cannabis dispensary to open in Phillipsburg on Tuesday, according to a news release.

TerrAscend will open the dispensary under the name The Apothecarium. It’s opening in the former Phillipsburg Trust Co. building at 55 S. Main St.

The Apothecarium has locations in San Francisco and Las Vegas. In 2017, Architectural Digest ranked one storefront among the seven best-designed marijuana shops in the country.

It’s the 13th facility dispensing marijuana for medical use in New Jersey and the first to operate in Warren County, according to the state health department news release.

TerrAscend is currently cultivating and processing cannabis in Boonton Township.

“Expanding access to our growing patient population continues to be a high priority especially during these unprecedented times,” said New Jersey Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli in the release. “The opening of this site will provide residents in the Northwestern New Jersey better access to products they need to treat their conditions.”

There are currently over 97,500 patients, 3,600 caregivers and 1,250 physicians enrolled in New Jersey’s medical cannabis program, the release says.
