Police seek gunman after shooting at El Cajon marijuana dispensary leaves one dead – The San Diego Union-Tribune

El Cajon police are seeking a gunman after a person was shot to death following an argument inside an illegal marijuana dispensary late Thursday, authorities said.

Police said in a news release Friday morning that officers responded to a reported shooting at a business on West Douglas Avenue near South Sunshine Avenue around 11:45 p.m.

There, they found a gunshot victim on the floor. Medics also responded, but the person died at the scene.

Witnesses told police that the victim and another man were arguing when the second man pulled out a gun and opened fire, shooting the victim at least once.

The gunman took off on a blue motorcycle headed west towards Van Houten Avenue, police said.

The suspected shooter was described as a light-skinned Latino man in his 30s, about 6-feet tall with a medium build. He wore tan pants and a black shirt with the word “security” pinned to it.

Police said the gunman “should be considered armed and dangerous.”

Authorities are still sorting out the incident, and were unable to immediately say whether the victim was a customer or employee of the shop.

Authorities said the marijuana dispensary where the shooting happened was operating illegally. Although medicinal and recreational marijuana is legal in California, the city of El Cajon does not allow facilities that offer marijuana to set up shop.
