Public hearings set for first St. Louis County medical marijuana dispensaries, Delmar Gardens expansion – Call Newspapers   Recently updated !

The St. Louis County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing next week on its first requests for medical marijuana dispensaries, along with changing county sign regulations, a Cafe Telegraph parking expansion and expanding the Delmar Gardens facility in Fenton.

The planning panel will meet for the hearing at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in the County Council Chambers at the Administration Building at 41 S. Central Ave., Clayton.

The commission is petitioning itself to amend current zoning ordinances on signs “with respect to signs for large institutional uses including but not limited to universities and hospitals.”

First medical marijuana dispensaries requested

Although most of the applications the county received for medical marijuana sites in unincorporated areas of the county were for South County, the first petitions it hears for the facilities are in West County and North County.

Attorney and former Chesterfield Mayor John Nations, who is one of County Executive Sam Page’s choices to represent the county on the city-county Board of Freeholders that will soon start convening, is representing a developer that wants to build the county’s first medical marijuana dispensary on Manchester Road.

Marla Barrett Station LLC, represented by Nations, is asking for a zoning change for a 0.48-acre site on the south side of Manchester Road, 13650 Manchester Road, roughly 250 feet east of Mason Lane.

The proposed location, which borders the cities of Des Peres and Town and Country, is a former Calvert’s Express Auto Service site.

Another developer is also vying to open the county’s first medical marijuana facility in unincorporated areas. HCSTL LLC, represented by Elliott Reed of Union, is asking for a change in flood-plain zoning to locate a dispensary near Ferguson at 3601 Dunn Road, roughly 350 feet west of New Halls Ferry Road.
