Vedi Naturals plans to open a recreational marijuana shop at the Twin Boro Crossing shopping center.
MARLBOROUGH — Vedi Naturals has taken another step forward in becoming the city’s second recreational marijuana shop.
City councilors signed off on Vedi Naturals’ special permit request to open a 2,350-square-foot dispensary at the Twin Boro Crossing plaza on Boston Post Road West (Rte. 20).
“As a first-generation Indian American, a first-generation post-college graduate and a certified minority-owned business, I am incredibly grateful to obtain the City Council’s full support to establish my company in Marlborough,” said Jigar Patel, Vedi Naturals’ founder and CEO. “I envision my ongoing experience as optimism for future generations to strive for their professional and entrepreneurial goals. My company aims to be active locally by contributing back to society and creating meaningful history along the way. I express immense gratitude to the city and its highest officials for believing in my company and me — as I continue to bring my plans to life.”

Vedi Naturals earlier this month received a provisional license from the state Cannabis Control Commission. Patel and his general contractor will soon file for a building permit with the city to begin construction. Once construction is complete, the facility will be inspected. The company will then request its final license and clearance to begin operations from the Cannabis Control Commission.
Patel hopes to open in the next eight months.
Twin Boro Crossing shopping center is within a recreational and medical marijuana regulated zone, which on Rte. 20 extends from the Northborough line to Interstate 495 on the city’s west side and from the Sudbury line to Phelps Street on the city’s east side.
