Rise Erie’s second medical marijuana dispensary is set to open on Wednesday.
The 16,000 square-foot Rise Erie Peach, at 1950 Rotunda Drive, is the largest of the 52 retail locations of Green Thumb Industries nationwide and its second location in Erie. Its other location, Rise Erie Lake, at 2108 W. Eighth St. in Millcreek Township, opened in April 2018.
Company officials said in a news release announcing Wednesday’s opening that profits from the first day of sales will be donated to Community Shelter Services, which provides assistance to the homeless.
Hours of operation for the new facility are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Erie is a special place for Green Thumb, as it’s where we opened our very first store in the state and have meaningful ties throughout the community and with our patients,” Ben Kovler, Green Thumb’s founder and chief executive officer, said in the news release. “We are honored to open a second location in Erie and expand our presence there to serve more people.”
About 25 employees will be added to the workforce of Green Thumb’s Pennsylvania locations, which are in 12 other communities around the state, with the opening of Rise Erie Peach, Jill Beck, director of community engagement for Rise, said during a media tour of the new facility last week. There are about 450 employees in Pennsylvania, Beck said.
