Trulieve, the largest medical marijuana provider in the state of Florida, has opened its 56th location in Englewood.
The company, which is responsible for more than half of Florida’s medical marijuana volume, according to statewide data, is now open at 1720 S. McCall Road.
The dispensary has 54 locations in Florida — including Port Charlotte, Venice, North Fort Myers, Sarasota and Bradenton — and one location each in California and Connecticut.
Kim Rivers, CEO of Trulieve, said that the company is taking safety precautions to adapt to doing business during the pandemic.
Since COVID-19 hit, Trulieve has modified its store layouts to comply with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention social distancing guidelines. It has also installed plexiglass and HEPA air filtration scrubbers, increased access to hand sanitizer and masks and bumped up the frequency of deep cleaning at all of its dispensaries.
All visitors are required to wear masks inside, and only patients and their state-approved caregivers are allowed in the waiting room.
The entire catalog of Trulieve products — including smokable cannabis, tinctures, topical creams, vaporizers and more — is also available for in-store pickup, and curbside pickup is available at certain locations.
On July 31, 382,311 patients in Florida had an active medical marijuana ID card, compared to 299,044 on Jan. 3, according to the Florida Department of Health’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use. Trulieve has added 12 new locations over the same time period.
Rivers said that adding more physical stores is one of the best ways Trulieve can reach its patients.
“Expanding our reach and providing safe, reliable access to the high-quality medications patients rely on is one of the best ways we can connect with patients directly, and we’re grateful to have the opportunity to offer direct access to patients in both Sarasota and Charlotte counties,” Rivers said
